Oh My Garlic!

I can't remember at what point I started loving garlic. All I know is that I'm glad I did. Not only is this vegetable (plant) a flavorful nice addition to our dinner, but it's so much more than that. Garlic has so many health benefits. I honestly think garlic can be the answer to many of our health problems.

I came down with a nasty cold a few months back, and since I have an infant, --well she is a toddler now, but at that point was still considered an infant, and I breastfeed, so I wanted to make sure that whatever I took for the cold and fever was as natural as possible; I got in the computer and researched natural-home remedies for a cold. To my surprise, although there are many things out there, I came across garlic remedies. So, I decided to research a little deeper and my findings left me in awe.

Based on what I read, it is said that garlic belongs to the onion, leeks and shallot family - Allium.
Its health benefits come from its sulfur compounds called allicin. There is still a study that hasn't exactly proven if allicin is absorbed by our bodies as it is an oily compound; however, there was a 12-week study where it was found that those who took garlic supplements everyday reduced the number of colds by 63% compared to a placebo. So, how does garlic fight a cold? I wish this blog was exactly that, a research paper that took me a whole day or week so I can have every single answer, but it isn't. However, I have added the link down there so you can read more about it when you get a chance. In the meantime, I encourage you to add extra garlic on your food. This will sound a little gross to some of you, but chopping up fresh cloves in advance and leaving it in an air-tight container in your refrigerator will save you time next time you want to cook. I personally, have been drinking it every morning. I chop up about a 16 oz mason jar every two weeks, and I have a spoon-full every morning before I eat anything. Of course, I make sure that I have a glass of orange juice ready so I can chug it right after.

Eating raw garlic every morning before breakfast helps as an antioxidant, antibiotic... some even say that it has helped with their hyper tension. For me, well, I don't have hyper tension, but I drink it because I read so much about it that I am in love with it even more. I do not smell like garlic DISCLAIMER!!!! I don't know if you will, but that's what perfume and cologne is for. All I gotta say is that my digestion has progressed, I do feel healthier, I haven't got a cold since December - knock on wood-- and over all I feel great.

I encourage you to give it a try for 12 weeks too, of course, if you have a concern seek professional help first, as I am in no way a registered dietitian nor nutritionist. Nevertheless a physician! If you have more information on garlic share your story with us whether it was a positive or negative experience. TIA

Love you guys, live a happy and healthy life! ❤

My Dear Daughter

Dear Baby, not so baby anymore. You’re gonna go through life; a path that will be rocky at some points. There will be curves, hills, and other obstacles along the way. You will look around you and you will realize that your life is a lot different than most of your friends. You will probably start to wonder why. Why things happened this way and not any other way. Perhaps, you will love it, perhaps you wont. Life isn’t always perfect. We as daughters or sons, want to have a life where all of our needs are met. We want our caretakers to give us everything we ask for. We don’t want homework. We don’t want a difficult teacher. We want our caretakers to say yes to everything we want. We want life to be easy, because easy doesn’t require much effort. Easy is EASY. But you see, if easy were that easy, then there would be no fun. There would be no enjoyment on daily activities, there would be no skilled people, in a sense: Easy would be boring! You are now at a stage in your life where...

Through My Eyes

(this page is work in progress...) I was born and raised in Mexico, in a small town in the outskirts of Guadalajara, Colonia Jalisco, it’s called. I currently reside in the States. I travel often. I have been to just about every country and some less popular cities but nevertheless amazing and thirsty to be discovered. I can’t tell you which place I liked most. I feel bad to say that I can’t recall all the places I have visited. I will have to look into my history and hope it’s still there. From all the cities that I have visited; I have not met one single person. I see them all around, but never their face. I can’r talk to them, even if I’d like to. However, I don’t believe in creating new friendships because friendships just as any relationship must be nourished and well --I don’t have time for that. I still have many places to visit. I don’t have time to engage in any conversations since I will have to leave again and travel to a new place: a new adventure. I noticed how people...
